Flying through airways? Know the cancellation and reschedule policies of Nepali airlines.

Airlines have been one of the most chosen modes of transportation these days in Nepal. Given the lesser time consumption and interesting discount offers provided time and again, more travelers are going from one destination to other through various airline services of Nepal. While it is quite easy to book an airline ticket, as shared in this blog, you might not have any idea about cancelling or rescheduling it. We have included a few cancellation and rescheduling policies of airlines of Nepal here in this blog. 


Buddha Airlines

Nepali/Indian Fares

  • This type of fare is applicable to the citizens of Nepal & India.
  • Nepali (NRN): A valid document issued by the Nepal Government, can benefit from this fare.

Foreigner (USD) Fare

  • This type of fare is applicable for the citizens beside Nepalese and Indian nationality.
  • A lower fare category is not applicable to foreigners.
  • OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) holder travelers/passengers need to pay this fare.

Residential Fare

  • This type of fare is applicable for the foreign passenger(s) who have been staying in Nepal for at least six (6) months before the flight date in NON-TOURIST VISA. Foreign Cockpit Crew flying different aircraft in domestic airlines will also be facilitated with this type of fare.

Child Fare

  • Child fare is applicable for the passenger(s) aged between 02 Years to (under) 12 Years of age. 33 % of the normal ‘Y’ fare is discounted for this type of passenger(s).

Infant

  • Infant fare is applicable for the passenger(s) aged 7 days from birth to (under) 02 years. Only 10 % of the normal ‘Y’ fare will be charged for Infant passenger(s).

Refugee

  • Refugee (s) identification issuing country will be treated as the nationality to determine the fare for the refugee(s)

Off Spring

  • The child of this category will get 75% waive only on fare.

Identity

  • Any valid photo identity is MANDATORY while CHECK-IN in the airport.

Normal ‘Y’ Fare

  • A cancellation charge of 10% of the fare is levied if the cancellation of the ticket is done before 11 hours from flight time.
  • A cancellation charge of 33.33% of the fare is levied if the cancellation of the ticket is done within 11 hours from flight time.
  • Cancellation is prohibited within two (2) hours of flight time.
  • Rescheduling of any flight can be before two hours of flight time.
  • Passenger(s) will be treated as ‘No-Show’ if they do not Check-In within stated reporting time. Buddha Air is not liable to refund the ticket if the passenger(s) fall under this category.
  • Passenger Service Tax (Airport Tax) is refundable for No Show tickets.
  • Refunds are made from the point of issue.
  • The baggage allowance is 25 kg.
  • Fare class will be “Y” for Normal fare ticket.

Apex ‘A’ Fare

  • A cancellation charge of 25% of the fare is levied if the cancellation of the ticket is done before 11 hours from flight time.
  • A cancellation charge of 50% of the fare is levied if the cancellation of the ticket is done within 11 hours from flight time.
  • Cancellation is prohibited within 2 hours of flight time.
  • Rescheduling of any flight can be done before two hours of flight time.
  • Passenger(s) will be treated as ‘No-Show’ if they do not Check-In within stated reporting time. The company is not liable to refund the tickets if the passenger(s) falls under this category.
  • Passenger Service Charge (Airport Tax) is refundable for No Show tickets.
  • The baggage allowance is 20 kg.
  • The open ticket cannot be issued in Apex fare.
  • Fare class will be “A” for Apex fare ticket.

Bravo ‘B’ Fare

  • Only Fuel surcharge will be refunded if cancellation is made before 2 hours from flight time.
  • Rescheduling can be done under the terms and conditions of rescheduling charges.
  • Cancellation is prohibited within two (2) hours of flight time.
  • Open Ticket cannot be issued in Bravo fare.
  • Passenger(s) will be treated as ‘No-Show’ if they do not Check-In within stated reporting time. The company is not liable to refund the tickets if the passenger(s) fall under this category.
  • “B” fare will be sold on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.
  • Passenger Service Charge (Airport Tax) is refundable for No Show tickets.
  • The baggage allowance is 20 kg.
  • Fare class will be “B” for the Bravo Fare ticket.

Charlie “C”, Delta “D” And Echo “E” Fare

  • These fares are nonrefundable, non transferable.
  • Rescheduling can be done under the terms and conditions of rescheduling charges.
  • The open ticket cannot be issued in Charlie, Delta, and Echo fare.
  • Passenger(s) will be treated as ‘No-Show’ if they do not Check-In within stated reporting time. The company is not liable to refund the tickets if the passenger(s) fall under this category.
  • Passenger Service Charge (Airport Tax) is refundable for No Show tickets.
  • The baggage allowance is 15 kg.
  • These fares will be sold on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.

Cancellation and Refund Process

Buddha Air does provide a refund on the cancellation of your tickets, but cancellation charges apply accordingly.

If you need to know how to cancel your Buddha Air ticket and get a refund, please find the details below:

If you have purchased a ticket from Buddha Air’s official website and mobile app:

  • You can cancel your ticket by calling our reservation at + 977 1 5542494 or 5521015 (Ext no: 231/222), send an email with your flight details to u4tickets@buddhaair.com or visit any of the nearest Buddha Air Sales offices.
  • A request mail is compulsory to send to u4tickets@buddhaair.com for the refund process after a ticket cancellation request is made.
  • After you have canceled your ticket, the refund process will take 7 to 8 working days from the date of cancellation.
  • The refund amount will only be deposited in the same card/bank account through which payment was done.
  • A 3.5% bank charges will be levied as transaction charge/service charge by the bank on full ticket amount along with cancellation charges as per the fare class of the ticket.

If you have purchased a ticket from an authorized travel agency:

  • You will need to contact your travel agency or point of sales from which you have purchased your Buddha Air ticket.
  • The refund amount will only be deposited in the travel agency’s account and you will have to contact the travel agency for your refund.
  • Cancellation charges as per the fare class of the ticket.

If you have purchased a ticket from any of Buddha Air’s Sales Offices in cash:

  • You will have to visit the nearest sales office and cancel your tickets.
  • You will receive your refund in cash immediately.
  • Cancellation charges as per the fare class of the ticket.

Note: For payment made through any convertible currency, a refund will be made in local currency.

If you have purchased from any of Buddha Air’s Sales Offices using your Card:

  • You will have to visit the nearest sales offices to cancel your ticket.
  • After you have canceled your ticket, the refund process will take 7 to 8 working days from the date of cancellation.
  • The refund amount will only be deposited in the same card/bank account through which payment was done.
  • A 3.5% bank charges will be levied along with cancellation charges as per the fare class of the ticket.

Reschedule Policy

  • Chargeable rescheduling can be done as per the availability of seat status.
  • If seats for the same fare category are not available, upgrading is possible. Please note the payment of seat fare differences and reschedule charges are mandatory.
  • If tickets are canceled, then cancellation rules apply. Please note the payment of cancellation charges will be that of the original fare category, not the upgraded fare category. However, reschedule charges for the upgraded fare category still apply.
  • Reschedule charges and upgrading charges are not refundable unless the tickets are canceled by Buddha Air.
  • Payment of rescheduling/up-gradation charges must be done at the point of rescheduling.

Baggage

  • ‘Y’ Class – 25 kgs.
  • ‘A’ & ‘B’ Class – 20 kgs.
  • ‘C’, ‘D’ & ‘E’ class – 15 kgs

It is mandatory to pay excess baggage charge as per sector-wise excess baggage rate.

Cancellation of Flight

  • In case of flight cancellation, the total amount of the ticket is refundable in all types of fare categories.
  • Buddha Air does not afford accommodation and transportation costs in case of flight cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances.

Others

  • Electronic tickets are not transferable.
  • If a flight is delayed by more than one hour, on the request of a passenger Buddha Air will cancel his/her ticket and will refund full fare.

Visa and Passport for International Flights

  • For international flights, please ensure that proper documents are with the passenger at the time of check-in.
  • Nepalis must either have Nepali citizenship (for flights to India) or a valid passport.
  • Indian nationals must either have a Voter ID or valid passport at the time of check-in for international flights.
  • Foreigners must have a valid passport and visas.

Passenger Service Charge

  • Passenger Service Charge will be refunded for unutilized services.

Cancellation and Refund Policy on USD Fare Tickets

  • Once the passenger issue the ticket and wish to cancel their flight the Airlines shall charge 10 % cancellation fee on base fare, eg. (Fare 100 + Fuel-Surcharge 20 + Airport Tax 2), and rest of the amount will be refunded. For example – If the flight date is on 25 November 2021, and passenger cancels his/her ticket on 24 November 2021 (before 24 hours) or earlier, then cancellation charge will be 10 % on base fare.
  • If passenger requests to cancel the ticket upon the flight date 3 hours before the departure time, the Airlines shall charge 33.33 % cancellation fee on base fare Eg. (Fare 100 + Fuel-Surcharge 20 + Airport Tax 2), and rest of the amount will be refunded. For example – If flight date is 25 November 2021, and flight departure time is 01:00 PM, if passenger cancels the ticket on 25 November 2021, either at 10:00 or earlier, then cancellation charge will be 33.33 % on base fare.
  • If the passenger requests to cancel the ticket within check-in hours i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show” i.e. non-refundable. For example departure time is 01:00 PM on 25 November 2021 and passenger cancels the ticket on 12:15 PM on 25 November 2021, then ticket will be considered as “No Show” and thus, the ticket fare will be forfeited.

Cancellation and Refund Policy on NPR Fare Tickets

  1. Normal Fare
  • If the passenger issue the above fare ticket and wish to cancel their flight before one day (12 hrs), then 10% cancellation charge will be applicable on base fare. The rest of the amount will be refunded.
  • If the passenger requests to cancel the above fare ticket upon the flight date 01 hour before the flight time, then 33.33% cancellation charge will be applicable on base fare. The rest of the amount will be refunded.
  • If the passenger requests to cancel the above fare ticket within check-in hour i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show”. i.e. non- refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.
  1. Yellow Fare
  • If the passenger issues the above fare ticket and wish to cancel their flight before one day (12 hrs), then 33.33 % cancellation charge will be applicable on base fare. The rest of the amount will be refunded.
  • If the passenger requests to cancel the above fare ticket upon the flight date 01 hour before the flight time, then 50% cancellation charge will be applicable on base fare. The rest of the amount will be refunded.
  • If the passenger requests to cancel the above fare ticket within check-in hour i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show”. i.e. non- refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.
  1. Victor Fare / Green Fare
  • If the passenger issues the above fare ticket and wish to cancel their flight before one day (12 hrs), then only FSC and Passenger Service Charge will be refunded.
  • If the passenger requests to cancel the above fares ticket upon the flight date 01 hour before the flight time or within check-in hour, then these fare tickets cannot be cancelled, it would be deemed as “No Show” i.e. non-refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.
  1. Flanker Fare / Oscar Fare / Special Fare/ Hotel Fare/Early Fare
  • If the passenger issues the above fares ticket and wants to cancel their flight one day before (12 hrs) or 1 hour before the departure time or within check-in hour the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show”. i.e. non- refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.

Reschedule Policy:

  1. Normal Fare
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fare ticket before one day (12 hrs) or 01 hour before the flight time to other confirm date, then Reschedule will be done ,no reschedule charge will be applicable.
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fares ticket within check-in hour i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show” i.e. non-refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.
  1. Yellow / Victor Fare
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fare ticket before one day (12 hrs) or 01 hour before the flight time to other confirm date, then Reschedule can be done in either same fare category or higher fare categories whichever available in the system. No reschedule charge will be applicable, only difference amount of available Higher Fare will be charged.
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fares ticket within check-in hour i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show” i.e. non-refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.
  1. Green Fare
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fare ticket before one day (12 hrs) or 01 hour before the flight time to other confirm date , then Reschedule can be done in either same fare category or higher fare categories whichever available in the system. No reschedule charge will be applicable, only difference amount of available Higher Fare will be charged.
  • However on Pokhara, Bharatpur and Janakpur sector, the following Reschedule policy will be applicable:

If the passenger requests to reschedule the Green fare ticket on above sectors 1 hour before to the flight time to other confirm date ,then Reschedule can be done in either same fare category or higher fare categories whichever available in the system. Reschedule charge Rs. 500 and difference amount of available Higher Fare will be charged.

(*Note: Green fare is the lowest fare in the sectors Pokhara, Bharatpur and Janakpur)

If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fares ticket within check-in hour i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show” i.e. non-refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.

  1. Flanker Fare / Oscar Fare / Special Fare /Early Fare
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fare ticket before one day (12 hrs) or 01 hour before the flight time to other confirm date, then Reschedule can be done in either same fare category or higher fare categories whichever available in the system.   • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fares ticket within check-in hour i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show” i.e. non-refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.
  1. Hotel Fare
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fare ticket before one day (12 hrs) to other confirm date, then Reschedule can be done in either same fare category or higher fare categories whichever available in the system. Reschedule charge Rs.500 and difference amount of available Higher Fare will be charged.
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fare ticket 3 Hours before the flight time to other confirm date, then Reschedule can be done in either same fare category or higher fare categories whichever available in the system. Reschedule charge Rs.500 and difference amount of available Higher Fare will be charged.
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fare ticket 2 Hours before the flight time to other confirm date, then Reschedule can be done only on Normal fare, however prior approval has to be taken from either Deputy Director – Sales & Marketing, or Senior Manager – Sales & Marketing. Reschedule charge Rs.500 and difference amount of Normal Fare will be charged.
  • If the passenger requests to reschedule the above fares ticket exceeding two hours to flight time or within check-in hour i.e. within 1 hour of flight departure time, the request will not be considered and it would be deemed as “No Show” i.e. non-refundable. Only PSC will be refunded.

Name Change Request

  • Name changes are allowed subject to a “Name Change Fee”. If the passenger requests to change the Name of the passenger, then NPR.1,000.00 will be applicable for Nepalese Passengers. Cancellation of Rescheduled Tickets

  • In case the passenger requests to cancel the rescheduled ticket, then original fare category’s cancellation and refund provisions will be applicable. In this case charges and fees levied for reschedule will not be refunded.

Tickets Cancelled by Airlines

  • In case the Airlines fails to fulfill its commitment and cancels the reservation, tickets, then all the portion of the ticket fare (any fare) will be fully refunded.

Requesting for Refund

  • If the ticket is refundable and it has not been utilized, then passengers may request for refund in the following ways: By submitting a refund request online at: ecommerce@yetiairlines.com or reservation@yetiairlines.com OR By calling Reservations Department at 977-01-4464878 during Office hours [09:00 – 07:00 NST]. By calling Ecommerce Department at 977-01-4466576 during Office hours [09:00 – 07:00 NST].
  • While submitting a refund request please include: The Passenger’s Name, the Passenger’s Address, the form of payment used (including the last four digits of the credit card number, if applicable), the tickets numbers, the date of departure and time and city as mentioned in the ticket.

Airport Tax (PSC)

  • Airport Tax will be refunded for unutilized tickets.

Shree Airlines

Class H

  • Fare Type: Refundable
  • Checked in Baggage Allowance: 20 kg
  • Hand Baggage Allowance: 1 Bag of up to 5 KG
  • Cancellation Fees: 0% of the fare, if cancelled 12 hours or more before flight departure time. 33% of the fare, if cancelled between 4 and 12 hours before flight departure time, and 100% of fare if cancelled less than 4 hours before flight departure time.
  • Cancellation after any reschedule: 33% of the fare, if cancelled more than 4 hours before flight departure time, and 100% of fare, if cancelled less than 4 hours before flight departure time.
  • First Reschedule Fees

4 hours or more before flight departure time: Free

Less than 4 hours before flight departure time: Not Allowed

  • Subsequent Reschedule Fees

4 hours or more before flight departure time: NPR 500

Less than 4 hours before flight departure time: Not Allowed

  • Refund in case of denied boarding

If boarding denied for medical reason, the passenger and accompanying passenger on same PNR will be entitled to full refund only if the passenger has “fit-to-fly” from a competent authority but the staff or crew refuse boarding. Denied boarding due to late show is considered “No Show” and no refund will be provided. Denied boarding due to the passenger being inebriated (under alcohol influence) and considered by staff or crew as unsafe will be considered “No Show” and no refund will be provided. Denied boarding for other reasons will entitle the passenger to a full refund.

  • Refund in case of flight delay

Only if passenger is physically present at check in counter and has offered to check in, full refund will be made if flight is delayed by more than 2 hour beyond scheduled departure time.

  • In case of flight cancellation

In case of cancellation of flight, Shree Airlines will try to accommodate the passenger in the nearest/next available flight to the destination. However, Shree Airlines will not provide any accommodation/compensation to passengers. Reschedule and Fare Class upgrade charges, if any borne by the passenger, will also not be refunded in the event of flight cancellation.

  • In case of flight diversion

In case the flight is diverted to another destination, Shree Airlines will make reasonable efforts for the passengers to reach their destination as expeditiously as possible.

Class I

  • Fare Type: Refundable

  • Hand Baggage Allowance: 1 Bag of up to 5 KG

8 hours or more before flight departure time: NPR 500

Less than 8 hours before flight departure time: Not Allowed

  • Subsequent Reschedule Fees

8 hours or more before flight departure time: NPR 800

Less than 8 hours before flight departure time: Not Allowed

  • Cancellation Fees: Tickets Non-refundable upon cancellation. Only PSC fare will be refunded.
  • Reschedule Fees

8 hours or more before flight departure time: NPR 700

Less than 8 hours before flight departure time: Not Allowed

  • Refund in case of denied boarding

If boarding denied for medical reason, the passenger and accompanying passenger on same PNR will be entitled to full refund only if the passenger has “fit-to-fly” from a competent authority but the staff or crew refuse boarding. Denied boarding due to late show is considered “No Show” and no refund will be provided. Denied boarding due to the passenger being inebriated (under alcohol influence) and considered by staff or crew as unsafe will be considered “No Show” and no refund will be provided. Denied boarding for other reasons will entitle the passenger to a full refund.

  • Refund in case of flight delay

  • In case of flight cancellation

Reschedule and Fare Class upgrade charges, if any borne by the passenger, will also not be refunded in the event of flight cancellation.

  • In case of flight diversion

In case the flight is diverted to another destination, Shree Airlines will make reasonable efforts for the passengers to reach their destination as expeditiously as possible.

Class S

  • Fare Type: Non-Refundable

  • Refund in case of flight delay

Only if passenger is physically present at check in counter and has offered to check in, full refund will be made if flight is delayed by more than 2 hour beyond scheduled departure time.

  • In case of flight cancellation

In case of cancellation of flight, Shree Airlines will try to accommodate the passenger in the nearest/next available flight to the destination. However, Shree Airlines will not provide any accommodation/compensation to passengers. Reschedule and Fare Class upgrade charges, if any borne by the passenger, will also not be refunded in the event of flight cancellation.

  • In case of flight diversion

In case the flight is diverted to another destination, Shree Airlines will make reasonable efforts for the passengers to reach their destination as expeditiously as possible.

NRN Card

  • Foreign Citizens and holders of Valid NRN Card will be entitled to Nepali fare in H Class only.

Refund Source

  • Tickets will only be refunded from the same source where it was issued.

PSC Refund

  • PSC for un-flown tickets in any class will be refunded.

Infant Fare

  • Infant under the age of 24 months will be charged 10% of H Fare on a non-seat travel. A valid document with birth date must be presented for check in.

Child Fare

  • Child between the ages of 2 years and 12 years will be charged 67% of H Fare. A valid document with birth date must be presented for check in.

Resident Fare for Foreigners

  • Foreigners living in Nepal with a valid non-tourist visa issued at least six months before travel date will be entitled to “Resident Fare”.

Fare & Policy

  • N – Normal: It indicates the upper fare.
  • O – Oscar: It indicates the second category fare.
  • P – Papa: It indicates the third category fare.
  • Q – Queen: It indicates the fourth category fare.
  • R – Roger: It indicates the fifth category fare.
  • S – Sugar: It indicates the lowest category fare.

Cancellation Policy:

  • If the ticket on Normal fare is cancelled, no charges shall be taken for once. If cancelled again, 10% on fare shall be charged for cancellation.
  • If the ticket on Oscar fare is cancelled at least one day prior to the flight date, 25% cancellation charge on the fare will be applicable. While, 50% cancellation charge on the fare will be applicable if the booking is cancelled on the same day.
  • If the ticket on Papa fare is cancelled at least one day prior to the flight date, 50% cancellation charge on the fare will be applicable. While, there shall be no refund if the booking is cancelled on the same day.
  • If confirmed passengers cancel their bookings in Queen, Roger and Sugar Fare one day prior to the flight date or the same day, there shall be no refund. It shall be treated as No Show.

Reschedule Policy:

  • If the ticket on Normal fare has to be rescheduled, no charges shall be taken for once. If rescheduled for the second time, additional Rs. 500 shall be charged.
  • If the ticket on Oscar fare has to be rescheduled, additional Rs. 500 shall be charged.
  • If the ticket on Papa fare has to be rescheduled, additional Rs. 500 shall be charged.
  • If the ticket on Queen Fare has to be rescheduled, it has to be upgraded to Papa fare. The difference amount along with additional Rs. 500 shall be charged.
  • If the ticket on Roger Fare has to be rescheduled, it has to be upgraded to Queen fare. The difference amount along with additional Rs. 500 shall be charged.
  • If the ticket on Sugar fare has to be rescheduled, it has to be upgraded to Roger fare. The difference amount along with additional Rs. 500 shall be charged.

Discount Policy:

Infant Discount Policy:

  • Any child below or equal to 2 years shall be considered as an infant. No fare shall be charged in such case.

Child Discount Policy:

  • Any child above 2 years and below or equal to 12 years shall be considered as child. A discount of 33% on normal fare will be given and all policy of N category will be applicable.

Senior Citizen Discount Policy:

  • Any passenger above or equal to 65 years shall be considered as senior citizen. 25% discount shall be given on the Normal fare.

Baggage and Cargo Policy:

i. Baggage :

Maximum baggage of 25 KG per passenger including hand carry will be allowed. In case of excess baggage, Rs. 125/KG shall be charged for all destinations

ii. Cargo:

Rs. 100/KG shall be charged for cargo for all destinations.
